Questions

When would the shop open? We’re aiming for early 2027. That depends on finding a space and enough interested members.

Where? We’re looking in Bed-Stuy / Clinton Hill. We haven’t signed a lease.

Are you taking payments? No. We’re asking people what they need from the shop before we commit to a space. Sending an inquiry doesn’t reserve a membership.

What if the shop doesn’t open? There’s no financial commitment at this stage. We aren’t collecting deposits.

Can I visit? There’s no space to tour yet. Once we have one, we’ll arrange visits.

What if I need to stop my membership? The proposed terms allow a pause through the end of your first-year commitment, with no payments or access during that time. After the first year, you could leave with 30 days’ notice. See the membership page for details.

Can a business join? That’s part of the plan. Email us about how many people would need access and what they’d use.

How would training work? Everyone would take an orientation before using the shop. Saws, welders, the mill, and the lathe would require hands-on certification. Orientation and certifications would be included in membership.

What about insurance? We plan to carry general liability and property insurance. Members would sign a waiver before using tools.

Could I bring a guest? The proposed policy allows one guest per visit to help with things like moving materials. Guests wouldn’t be allowed to use tools.

Would there be classes? We plan to offer classes and workshops, with a 30% discount for members.
